Tie rod ends?

Post by Bonus »

In the process of replacing my inner tie rod ends (92 D21 Terrano),simple enough job to do. Did the drivers side easy as, but when i went to do the passengers side, once I removed the old end, I found it had a right hand thread on it , where as the drivers side had a left hand thread. From what ive researched both sides should be Left hand thread.

Is this correct?

The part I have only comes in LHT but the outer tie rod part comes in RHT.
Is it possible to put an outer tie rod in place of the inner tierod?

pretty sure the only difference is which way the thread turns.

you'l find that the tie rods plus adjusters have been put around the wrong way, so inner is now the outer one etc.

cool thanks for that, thought as much, may as well do all the tie rod ends now and flick the adjuster back the right way round

yup i had the same problem with mine but i haven't turned it around. makes for an interesting time when you go and get parts i had a choice from 2 different threads and 2 tapers as mine is a 95 terrano and they went to a different taper in that year.
