first question. what gearbox/transmission do you have?

Re: sd23 to td27t conversion
i did a td23 to td27t swap and found they had diffrent water pumps so needed a new fan to fit the 27t other than that sound like you should have everything else you need
Re: sd23 to td27t conversion
cool. thanks. looks like the alternator and a/c unit have been swapped around from the sd to the td series engines so i may need to make up some brackets. guess i'll find out soon enough( if it ever stops raining)
Re: sd23 to td27t conversion
why? sd23 to sd33t from a early patrol would make more sense
problems are only a problem if you not willing to learn how to find solutions
Re: sd23 to td27t conversion
Some wiring loom plugs appear to 'plug and play' but there both very different.
If you break it... build it stronger.

here's one on the tube don't have pics of our old one,

bugger. was hoping not to open that can of worms. Knew i'd need to rewire startermotor though. which leads did you find needed to be re-routed?

From memory, nearly every wire.

Yea I guess after you hack into firewall, and cut out all radiator support panels etc it does make it short? But then td42 would be a better option...
Back to topic,
I did the sd - td conversion many year ago, was very simple to wire it enough to get running.
Main earth wire battery to engine,
Main engine power wire from battery to starter.
Key wire from existing setup to start trigger
Wire from ignition 'on' to injector pump
Alternator big wire to battery +
Alternator small wires (may pay to double check this) one is wired to ignition 'on', other is the wire that feeds back through battery light on dash.
If it was previously external reg type, do google search of how to convert to internal reg. Very simple conversion.
Tacho will take some nutting through. Search "phaedrus's" (spelling?) profile, he seems to be extremely knowledgeable in this regard. (search his posts, info prob there).
Oil sender and temp sender wiring pretty simple, just find original wires and adapt to fit new engine.
Think thats about it for wiring.

Re: sd23 to td27t conversion
hey guys, thanks heaps for all the support info. its slowly coming together however i have not found a clutch fork to fit my new bell housing. the old one seems too short. if any one has one to fit a d21 '93 navara/terrano td27t, on a 71c box, i'd love to take it off their hands. cheers, tim.
