I don't have a 4x4 I have a super custom van with a 1kz. I currently building a thick wall stainless steel steam pipe dump pipe with separated waste gate plumbing. If your interested and if you like my finished item. I'm actually looking and producing factory replacement dump pipes for the 1kz motors.

Im currently waiting on some 10mm stainless flanges to be laser cut, should be in the next day or so. i hope! as i need my van running again for tow dutys monday. At the moment I'd expect a price of 350 ish to make them. I know almost all chassis have different shaped dump pipes so will just be a case of getting my hands on each type and making a jig.

I'd like to have them available in both a factory 2.5" bolt in replacement and a 3" option which will be available with a vband clamp set or 3 bolt flange. Is this a product that is as sort after as I think it is? Being Very sort after!

I would go mild steel, I cant remember how many times I have been asked to repair cracked headers, always alongside the weld in the corner between the weld and parent metal, but at least ya get return customers till they learn that shiny headers imported cheaply from china dont end up so cheap in the long run, heavy wall ss might be better than thin tho,

I suspect stainless steel might tend to crack due to vibration (work harden)

I use stainless over steel as I can source them cheaper then the mild steel bends. I'm using very high grade thick wall stainless bends with wall thickness of 2.77mm and up depending on pipe size. This is not cheap Chinese made stainless. These bends are used wildly around NZ to build very high performance turbo exhaust manifolds. Each bend can be tracked right back through every stage of manufacturing.

Here is the dump pipe I just made for my Hiace 1kz.

Hiace 1kz dump pipe as pictured (bolt in replacement). $500
Any surf/hilux bolt in replacement (similar style as pictures) $400

V-band clamps extra $50

Nice looking piece of hardware. For your Hiace application it will work however, for the KZN130 (and perhaps other surfs) the space is quite restricted. I think that is why the dumps for those vehicles are as close to the factory setup as possible, a tight space. I'm not a professional exhaust builder but there is not much room amongst the frame, firewall and turbo to make flow-friendly dumps.

Saying that, I would like to see what you can produce for other cars with the 1KZ-TE. They may not be as labor intensive as the beauty you made for your Hiace.

There is always room to fit parts. The Hiace one just squeezes into the space available and is more complex then it needed to be as I wanted it to be a direct bolt in item. Toyotas design has very little to do with available space but cost effectiveness. Order dump pipes and ill produce bolt in items that fit.

I am so happy with how the van goes now. Will get pyro gauge and pump the boost up to 15psi as is only running 12 at the moment. Dump pipe is by far best mod I've done
