tyres rubbing on chassis on full lock
I’ve just recently taken my larger muds off and put back factory 16's on my 2002 swb (for WOF, and to keep the muds for mud) and realised that the 225/70/16s Just touch the chassis on full lock (at the rear part of the tyre).... and not being particularly mechanical was wondering if there was something I would adjust to stop this?
Spacers maybe?

Yes,
That an wheel spacer's will allow you to get closer to your full lock. But from what i'v seen there quite pricey.
I'm needing to do the same thing.

for the price of wheel spacers(about $70)
your better of to buy new rims($110) with a zero offsett or negative offset this will fix ths problem alot better

Re: tyres rubbing on chassis on full lock
sounds like they cant really be factory for your vehicle if they rub
possibly wrong tyre size
before you race off and buy negative offset rims as instructed, make sure you trial fit first so you don't run into other issues, like the tyres rubbing on inner guards instead

^^ They are factory rims, but they are off a 2L V6 Vitara, they are being used on a 1.6L Grand Vitara.

so they are NOT the factory rims for the vehicle in question
hence the rubbing issue

nah, these are the factory ones, the 1600 came out with same wheels (even the spare is the same) but i think the 1600's were fitted with a 205 tyre..... and the 225's just seem to be a touch to wide.

Hey man, GV's have larger offset rims when compared to the V6 Vitara's. Also larger diameter tyres will mean more rubbing as well.

Re: tyres rubbing on chassis on full lock
i had standard 16 inch rims with 205 on which is standard i put 225 and they just caught the chasis on full lock wound out the screws and was good as gold

I'm needing to do the same thing.
also, if you do decide you want it wider, id buy rims over spacers any day.
a) you wont need cert
b) wont put stress on studs or anything other than what the stress would normally be on.

Im not 100% sure but i think its the two bolts in the pic below - i found on google. the are found drivers side just towards rear of vehicle from radiator end, around the steering box. in the pic its the bolt just above the middle of the arrow and the one the arrow is pointing too. i have 245 tyres on 16 inch rims, and have adjusted mine so they dont rub on the chassis.

those are the ones undo the locking nut wind the screw out 2 turns and tightn the locking nut. this should be enough adjustment try it if not repeat the process
