booger before any mods apart from 30" half worn BFGs
Right so I have finally gotten around to resizing all my build pics and so will start my build thread on ORE.
My little green ball of snot(booger) had done me proud as a cheep commuter wagon and great for camping in remote places with the mrs however Two years ago I got a winch and needed to fab a bumper to mount it to. unfortunately the bug caught and now have modified alot of things. it has been one and a half years so far( I do live overseas so only really 8 weeks of actual work) to get this far. I have only added a few comments so sorry about the brief description, I am sure most of you will get the idea though. and if anyone wants more of a description about something just ask

Seats were on the list and I happend to have some BMW E36 coupe seats spare. no more wobbly uncomfortable seats.

fully height adjustable. wicked.

make a round bumper hole square.

give it some extra bracing.

all painted up waiting for winch fitting.

out with the old engine

plan

a week part on the Nivas is the alloy front diff which is also mounted to the engine so gets twisted with the engine. To solve both problems I plan to turn a spare rear steel axle into a steel front diff that is mounted to the front crossmember.

making a jig off the original.

first line up

alot of grinding needs to be doin to the pumpkin as the output flange and bearing sit so close on the short side.

the step is for the bearing to sit in, it is a real close call.

all welded up looks good.

mounts made

fitted to the front crossmember

the air lockers (from greece) and 4.7 gears(from germany) fitted ready for installation

wedges for the front spring base, this is what we lada guys call a Hoodoo Mk I after the guy(Hoodoo) that first did this mod.( he has joined ORE now) the MK II just uses spacer rings on the springs but although easier to fit tent to make the spring bend more. the wedges straighten the spring up .

all painted

new progressive front springs from Russia

needed some extra weight to compress the springs he he

cant be calling these progressive any more huh

got progressive springs for the rear as well as adding a spacer. the hoodoo lift gives approximatly 2" of lift.

the old rear top spring seat and the new lifted one.(From Russia)
now I dont like the rear drums on the Niva as the forever need adjusting. so decided to retrofit disks.

rear axle flange machined to take a Niva front disk.

I used citreon ZX calipers just cause I was at the citreon wrecker for some engine parts, he also gave me the mounts. so I welded them on.

Looks Great does it not!!!
