and fark that guy is lucky. if it came from the other truck it would have been bloody messy.

If the bar wasn't mounted well, it could also have been worse with a snatch strap, with all that extra energy in the strap wanting to recoil.

Would almost say a bungy would have been better as the rope has no give and shock loads the equipment, however if it did still fail then it would not have been pretty.

Shock loading would be worse with rope, but a lot of people don't realise the energy involved with recovery strops and automatically use them without a second thought of other options (winching etc)

given the experience I had with the trailgear bumper I bought for my TJ which mounted directly onto the shitty arsed factory mounts. The only way to attach a hook to it was to first fab up some chassis tie in brackets to ensure exactly what was shown in that clip couldn't happen. in stock form a heap of their (yanks) bars should never be recovered off. Plenty have the tabs on for shackles (ala the arb front bars) that most have the misconception can be used for snatch recoveries.

how do you know it's not a snatch rope, nylon rope had around 40% stretch and 4wd bits sell these. nylon snatch strap around 20%.
