Once finished i went to fire the ol tart up, theres no dash lights, yet batterey light is on, have checked all fuse's i know of (under hood and in cab) have rechecked all plugs etc. I've spent the last day google ect and i'am still a little lost on it.

any further luck?

Some suggestions for you

Did you disonnect battery when changing alt was there a spark or short on alt feed during process then could be a fusible link, Fuse links - these need to be checked at both ends as may look intact but be blown in middle. Test light is good for this or a volt meter

Are all connections/plugs remade correctly at alternator?

Check do you have 12v at alternator main feed, do you have 12v across battery terminals if bat termnal were removed have these remade good connection or did you leave a minor battery lead disconnected off these?

I would check for a blown heavy bolt in fuse in the fuse box under the bonnet?
