1kz cutting out

Hey a mate of mine has a 1997 1kz 3.0 diesel turbo manual surf that will cut out at random times when driving he has to turn the key right off and back on and it will start up straight away again. When it dies cannot be rollstarted either. Hes had it at the mechanics and auto sparkies but havent been able to find a fault has anyone else had this problem before or got any ideas?

it could be a common 1kz problem they have with the ecu, the caps go in them which can cause all sorts of trouble. you can get the ecu fixed by a auto computer repairer fairly cheap

Yea mate of mine had the same problem, get the ecu checked out.
