Wanted Kzj71 Rear Diff lock Actuator

Post by GlenW264 »

Hi All
Just bought a 93 Prado. Rear Diff lock wasn't working few people informed me of them filling with water etc. so removed it to find some one has been in there before me and had stripped the worm gear/armature out of the actuator and not put it back in.
Long story short i am after ether the whole unit or the armature/ worm gear please any one.
Cheers Glen

Seemed to be pretty hard to source . Could convert it to a cable locker with a kit from America (not cheap )

They are a bit like hens teeth... very hard to find and if you do its $$$$.
Converting it to cable will probably be your best option....

Search wjw's thread on his 80 series regarding centre diff-lock. Same actuator.
Good luck.with sourcing one. Tried Lineside? Nigel Bannan on here works for the Just Cruisers part of the business, I think.

Hi there i know a new one is around the $1000 mark. it depends on weather its the whole unit or just the worm gear/ armature.

I rebuilt a mates front one out of an 80 series with parts from a surf transfer case actuator. They are in essence the same thing just different configuration. I am guessing the rears are the same. If you want me to have a look at it and see if I can't fix it let me know. You will need to find an actuator off a surf but they can't be hard to find. My mates one basically did the same as what yours did appart from the gear. My recollection is that they are the same gear.
