That's two trucks for the whole trip and three for the weekend, who else is in :?: We are definitely dong the hard way up Napoleon's, gotta scare the the shit out of me aussie mate. Rang DOC today to get info on Waimanagora Rd and a transmission line crew has just gone through wth a few exicting parts for interest. Call the owner of part of the track tonite to get access, DOC say it won't be a problem.

Yep that's fine Dave. We will be staying saturday night in at the Waitahu near Reefton. You could catch us up at the hut at Waitahu or we could meet you in at Reefton say at 1030-1100.

thats the way us locals here do it, it got its name because at the bottom of the hill there is a rolled subaru leone in the bushes! Its quite narly and depending on the previous weather it can get quite rutted. Further down that track, or up it depwnding on where you start there is a washed out culvered which is only just wide enough for a truck to pass over.
Its quite a good track if you want something hard at the start of the day by going up.

Well, I'm sold 8) If you don't come Robbie, get in touch and I will come over so you can mark it on my map
This is definitely the way we are heading up then.
Al

If you do Subaru hill up or down you WELL get panel damage, work mate went there on weekend.

Al, the Reference to Subaru Hill is fairly accurate, but the condition of the track will be dependant on weather. I would suggest it is worth giving it a go, but do it from the top down hill first. Like all tracks on the coast the difficulty is dependant on weather. If there has been a lot of rain then it gets pretty well dug out in the ruts by the rain. Last time we did it we did tip a truck on it’s side (not mine) but that was due to driver error going up and not putting wheels in the correct place. It is tougher going up than coming down.
It is a GREAT track so worth having a look at it and make your call on the day.
Hope you have a great trip.

 Shit thetracxk must have changed alot in the last year or so, you used to put the wheels in the ruts and let them take you to the bottom :D

:D Make sure you get some pic's of the hill because i am planning to do it down hill possibly solo in feb/march next year   If its got that bad then maybe i won't
