Dimensions of rear axle on patrol/safari

Post by Heath »

Hey guys anyone able to run a tape measure over a rear axle for me?

I need the dimensions from tyre mounting face (flat bit of disk tyre bolt to) to other tyre mounting face.

Also what is the lowest ratio (or is that highest) I can get? I am looking around the 3.9 - 4.1 to fit the tyres I want to my rod (my 3.08 one is a little tall) and figured that if I want disks on the rear this might be the easiest way about it. Just have to sort the stud pattern (want to stay with holden 5 stud so I only need one spare).

Did any come out with leaf sprung rears?

Some utes were leaf sprung, probably hard to find though.

Got a v8 one now but it has no brakes at all on it and it looks pricey to fit some. Might just go back to factory and run drums on the rear.

Strangely enough the axle without brakes fitted is approx 1570 wide. so its wider than a patrol - didnt expect that.
