My beloved just failed its WOF with front swivel balls leaking (amongst other things).
Has anyone kitted the swivel balls before? Is it a mission?
Or can anyone recommend anyone to do the work for me, I'm in CHCH? (Ideally within the next fortnight or so - Hoskins are all booked up until after Christmas)

Try Auto Station cnr of Ferry Rd, in between PowerBoat centre and car sales yard.

Re: Land Rover S2A front swivel balls
you can get grease for them instead of oil, talk to rex at landrover spares. they won't leak then

If the seals are worn then even the grease will leak.
Anyway not sure if the grease is really suitable for the older vehicles, it was originally intended for the later vehicles from late 80's onwards with CV's.

So, started her up to take her to the garage, but throttle was surging all of its own accord, then when I put my foot down nothing for a few seconds, then suddenly kicked in.
Gave it a real boot and engine revved up high then just stopped. It's a diesel, so checked it had plenty of fuel (it does) and primed it at the injector pump (which I did). Still no go.
Loosened the injectors off and checked for fuel while turning her over, but nothing. I'm thinking the injector pump might have just snuffed it...?

Re: Land Rover S2A front swivel balls
i have owned around 7 landies/rangies all had leaking swivels at some point and what we used to do was cut the big seal and fit the cut at the top of the housing refit the tiny spring around the seal then smear silicone sealer around the cut and fill with the landrover recomended grease (which came in tubes from landrover themselves) this was well known repair in the uk within the landy fraternity, no grease came out and no water went in...first time i did it i thought it was a waste of time but it works really well. i did thousends of miles in my series three and s3 lightweight with this repair with no problems.
