TD27 Egr

Alright I have got myself a 94 td27 Terrano, but I cannot find the egr. Can someone show me a photo of where it is located?

Bear in mind I am a complete novice...

Why do you want to remove it? You really need to understand what it is and does before randomly remove bits. EGR stands for Exhaust Gas Reticulation System. For it's removal, you need to block/remove the exhaust egr valve (under back of intake manifold) by spading/plateing, then tie open the intake butterfly or remove then block pivot holes, and block off the associated vacuum lines.

I never said I wanted to remove it. Well, maybe not just yet. Just looking out of curiosity, trying to understand what everything is. I've read a lot on here about blocking the egr off, just wondering whether or it it has already been done to mine.

Whoops... my bad. Look for the vacuum operated valve (like one shown in pic) under fire wall end of intake manifold, and see if a 'spade' plate has been slide inbetween flanges to block. A metal pipe runs from this valve around the back of the head, to the exhaust manifold. It bleeds exhaust gases back into intake (intake butterfly assists this) under certain conditions, engine temp, revs, and throttle position are factors. Usually system causes intake to gunge (is that a word?) up, or no longer works correctly and affects performance.

How far down is it? I thought that was what I was looking for, but I haven't seen anything that resembles it... Haha it probably has been removed...

I'm going to check mine out tomorrow as I think mine is still there, although the vaccy hoses have been removed by the engine people ages ago. If it is still in there does it still need removing?

Personally I'd remove or "spade" flange, as valves can stick partially open (with all that gunge), then at least tie intake butterfly open and remove, then block vacuum line.

Total removal is fairly easy i just made some blanking plates and bolted them in place. I also removed the butterfly housing and made my own because i wasnt fond of the oil leaking out of it under boost

Yearp, mine is still in there, another project to tackle. All the vaccy hoses have long been removed off it all the same.
Has anyone any drawings for blanking plates for it?

When I removed mine, the egr pipe was so caked up it was completely blocked. Even jabbing at it with a screwdriver didn't clear it. I removed mine so I could use manifold end to install EGT probe.
A ball bearing wedged into the vacuum line would stop it working, and visually no-one could tell...
Probably one reason why there's no law against removing it...

i might do the same when it comes to removing mine for the egt guage.

seems an easier option than drilling and tapping into the manifold.
