well guys after sorting out the wider body for my truck im looking at trying to fit 35's under there, mainly so when i go for cert i can if i want to go that way at all.
i will be doing a fair bit of modifications to my rear guards/wheel wells, and the front guards can be changed around to suit either way.
i have a safari front axle, terrano rear, so when it comes to breaking things i have a feeling it wont, safari steering, safari transfer case, terrano auto/engine.
as for the mechanicle side of things i will be upgrading the ratios when i am sure i want to stick wih 35's. ive got 4.1's at the moment, which are alright, but will go to atleast 4.65's when i can afford the front ring gear.
35's on a terrano, can it be done?

Late WD21 diesel autos w/ transaxle code HG48 had the H233 rear in 4.875. They're relatively rare but around, Maybe 2 of these?
I saw one at a wrecker in Lower Hutt recently, I took the R200 4.8 front. If you want I can ask how much he wants for it, probly has more too. Postage would be cheap if i only sent R&P.

only prob is that the front is high pinion, otherwise i would have done 4.65 (my one from rear, and another rear into front)
idealy i would like to find a spirit front c&p put they are rare and expensive, other option is transfercase gears. 4.1 is good for the road as 33's arnt much bigger than what the safaris came out with, which is what speedo sender is in it...

Ah I see... so the main priority for now is finding a tyre and rim combo that will physically fit?

i think the problem will come from the rear in your case. if ya intend on keeping the rear links in a standard location that is. ?
bigger tyres get pretty close to the front of the rear guards. i had some impure thoughts on a solution.
but have put them on hold for a minute or two.

I don't think you have to worry as they cert rim size, not the tyre
If you break it... build it stronger.

with my 33's and stock linkage setup I get rubbing at the rear of the rear guards

Ok people, move along. Nothing to see here. Thank you, move along.

thinking in terms of modification needed.
i would still like to be able to flex with 33's on lol, i can get alot of articulation out of the front allready due to the way it is set up, (mostly drop away).
Just wondering how much work i will have to do to rear to get it tuckin up under there nicely.
mines also a 5door one, so got the door in the way of major conversions in terms of wheel well.
i think i will definitly cut as much of the lip away as possible.

Rear quarter chop, with a simple wrap around rear bumper?
In my opinion the SAS you've done justifies 35s...your truck is begging for 35s!
That trademe one is interesting, but realistically, even with the torsion drop Trailmaster style lift, is it ever going to give long term reliability on tyres that size?! And the centre of gravity is through the roof!

Re: 35's on a terrano, can it be done?
hmmm, maybe.
i want to make it look kinda factory in terms of bars etc, and dont want to put too much weight on it.
i think i could get away with taking about 30mm off all the way around.
when i had 33's on it with just a 2inch sus and body lift, i didnt get rubbing from the rear, still had about 5mm clearance, so a 35 only being wider by 1 inch either side may still fit under there.
i will then be flaring out the rear guards so they cover the tyres and look semi factory, so ill have to see what it looks like when ive dont the front guards.
