to sway or not to sway!!!!

now iv heard and read about people removing there front sway bar? can any one tell me any pros and cons in reguard to doing this?! dose it turn your truck into a boat? dose if give suspention more articulation? im thinking about doing it on my surf, cheers

Removing the sway bar does improve articulation but can also cause issues on road. If you fit aftermarket suspension (springs and shocks) they usually improve handling as well so not too bad on the road.
Original springs and shocks are a compromise for comfort and ride so removing sway bar and still using original springs is not recommended.

Taken the front and rear out in my Surf and it is LOADS better offroad, definitely recommend doing it. I've got aftermarket springs and shocks so the roll onroad isn't too bad - trucks aren't made to go fast around corners so you shouldn't be going fast enough for it to be an issue anyway! Would recommend upgrading to stiffer springs and new upgraded long travel shocks too.

yeah it does give you better (not nessecarily more) articluation coz the sway bars are there to resist articulation movement, as far as performance goes yes its better offroad with freer moving suspension and as far as onroad goes its all a bit dependant on the paticular vehicle, how soft or stiff the springs are, how heavy the vehicle is/how much weight your carrying, how you drive what sorts of conditions you drive in and what you concider scary or not

removed both on my lwb plado and it handled like crap on the road, have put the front back on and its betterer on road and still articilates at the back. smurf made up a disconnect pin for his one.

cheers all, think ill take it out and see how it feels, yea all springs shocks and torsions have been upgraded to heavy duty deals, so no worries on that side, might have to adjust my foot alittle tho

Tyre wear cn be increased at the front also. Other than that offroad it's a whole new ballgame

took mine of the front of my L200 and I barely noticed the difference! probably because it's pretty much on the bottom bumpstops as I wound the torsion bars up to the max
