Hard to start

My 2002 1600cc gv is getting harder and harder to start when left for a while e.g more than a few hours.

At its worst it can take 3 to 5 seconds to fire up

Any common issues or pointers people ?

The motors a little smokey at startup.. I wonder if the plugs are getting fouled up ?

Defiantly try new plugs. If you want to you can replace the fuel filter and check the air filter. Also if it's a hot wire AFM give that a clean.

enough cranking power in the battery??? worth getting it tested esp if its a couple years old or more....
