Re: 1KZ recommendations
Yeah, thanks heaps for the help
I've got some food food for thought regarding trans cooler!

Re: 1KZ recommendations
Do these engines really love 27psi day in day out? They handle it just fine?

Re: 1KZ recommendations
I was told by a turbo builder that the standard turbos were only good for 18psi,but some people appear to be running them at higher pressures.
Re: 1KZ recommendations
i'll bet the efficiency at 27psi is totally crap. actual increase in airflow would be bugger all.

Auto guys down here told me the same thing. Only provisio was I didn't work in the ski fields...
And to add another reason to not use the in rad cooling for the auto is that if like my rad the nuts on the inside start to come loose you get coolant in the trans fluid which will kill your trans.

Re: 1KZ recommendations
What has been said on here is pretty much spot on although the cooler in the radiator is more of a preference thing. I still have mine in the radiator but it is not hooked up, was going to remove it but figured if I had a stuff up it could be used to get me out of the bush. I have been running 2 trans coolers on my 1kz and auto for close to 5 years now. Both motor and box are stock but running locked diffs on 36's with 4.56 gears. Motor has a 4 core from Chris at chch radiators and and has been sweet. In saying that i run a good set of guages, oil pres, water temp and have a guage on the inlet back into the trans to monitor the temp. From what i've read anyhting over 90c back into the box and it may aswell be a right off. It takes a bit to get the trans or the motor hot on the aftermarket guages but I've only seen the factory motor temp rise once. Its all in how you drive though. Just my 2c.
