am i correct in presuming that if my truck is getting hot and the radiator and thermostat are good that it is my head?
when i take the radiator cap off it bubbles and the water level pulses up and down.
there is no water in the oil
cracked head?

Re: cracked head?
You could get a leak down test done to confirm gasket / head

And also there is a test strip you can buy to dip in the rad water to check for combustion gasses..

Re: cracked head?
You have to wonder how the air is getting into the system for water to bubble out the radiator, mine is also has the same symtoms, best case hg worst case head, either way while its apart you might as well future proof it the best you can
Re: cracked head?
I'm assuming you have a 1KZ ......
a leak down sometimes won't show up a crack as the valves are closed during the test and the heads crack in the intake ports above the valves.
I've found it's better to remove the glow plugs, pressurise the cooling system and leave it for 10mins or so, then disconnect the plug on the injection pump, and crank the engine over.
If cracked, the coolant will squirt out the glow plug holes.
Plus you can inspect the glowies while they're out.
