1992 terrano auto transmission problem,

Hi when driving at 100km/h my trans seams to change down to third and back up to fouth on its own???????????

does anyone know a remidy for this??

get it flushed, how many kms has it done? I have owned several auto terranos and the gearbox seems to be a temperamental thing on them, a good flush and new oil does them wonders. Local nissan dealer flushed mine for me, its not a job you can do yourself as they use a special machine and cycle fluid through the gearbox for a good hour or so then drain it all out before putting new oil in.

my thoughts were along the ame line, just wasnt sure if that would fix it.
but a good place to start.

hopefully its not the tourqe converter or the valve body that are to blame.

yea usually it is the that the valve body is just gunked up with heaps of crap thick old oil I was amazed at the amount of shit that came out of a couple of my ones haha

maybe a stupid suggestion but never know, you sure its not the lockup kicking in and out?

thanks for the advice i went to an auto trans shop this morning and explaned my symtom, he sugesssted that it could be the temp sensor in the trans that could be faulty.

so as kind as he was he gave me a resistor and showed me how to add it into the curcuit.

he did not seem to think it was the kick out, as earlry suggested by a mate of mine.

will let you know how i go today.
