Last weekend me and a mate went surf casting on the north side of the river at Port Waikato and had a great day.
It was an early start so we were fishing just as the sun come up and within a minute of casting out had a fish on. The kaihawai were all big fish in lovely condition all full of roe. They just couldn't refuse a pilchard bait. I changed to fresh mullet and got 4 nice schapper also but still picked up the occasional kahawai which were released. I have a large extended family who are crying out for more fish so maybe Iill head back there again this weekend.
