Hi all, So found myself getting fustrated with the hilux being off the road so long with modifications so found myself this truck.
Coil sprung solid axels full disc brakes its a bit short in the wheel base for my liking but would rather that than the long wheel base (personal preferance not a dig) is a bit standard so time for some aftermarket upgrades............
71 Series Club truck
Re: 71 Series Club truck
first on the list was diff locks now i have had them i cant live without them
found a 2nd hand lockright 4 spider in the rear $nil diff swap for the guy.
front diff i was thinking do i really need that spare hi pinion ARB for the hilux......... Na she'll be right (may regret this later but good for now so did the swap and put one of those cheap chinese compressors in aswel will see how long it lasts

Seen ya (missus actually) playing round in that over at nsn/blenheim funday.
My mate had one and I was surprised how capable it was, even with open front and rear diffs. Is yours the 1kz model?

Re: 71 Series Club truck
Sold the 2.4 turbo motor within a week of it being on TM so $1400 in the back pocket and 1 empty engine bay, interesting the differences between surf and prado motors, different powersteering locations & bigger starter.
Re: 71 Series Club truck
With 1400 dollars burning in the back pocket i decided it was time to start building the new motor origionaly was going to put a lexus v8 in it but soon changed my mind as i dont want to have to tow it everywhere to get good fuel economy so 1kz with a manual pump is the way. I had a block sitting in the drive way so off to toyota and $1700 later i walked out with all new bits.
Re: 71 Series Club truck
Old engine mounts plasma cut off and tidyed up then bolted onto motor ready for refit.
Re: 71 Series Club truck
Looks like the twin to mine.
If it's not too late now would be a good time to check on engine mount- future PTO shaft clearance if you ever want to put in a winch. IIRC mine runs pretty close.
Cheers
