Shortend PTO cradle, Drive Shaft question

Post by Camel »

I've got a Modded PTO winch cradle ( sits closer into the body work), and a factory length drive shaft . What's the best way to get the drive shaft length ?.

I'm thinking , mounting drive shaft from PTO drive to the
chassis hanger mount , and measure from hanger bearing to the winch,
take measurements to Drive shaft shop and get them to make it to suit.

How have others done it ? Cut and re weld the front shaft, or cut the rear of the splined shaft ,and maybe cut /machine new splines ?
What has worked or not worked for you ?
Thanks

i think cutting the shaft and re welding it would be your best bet. gets pricy re splining shafts.
