I had a 91 manual and had gearbox issues. spent $2000 fixing it and sold it.new owner rang me 6 months later with the same gearbox worries.( He wanted to know who fixed it). I see someone said its a easy fix? 2k wasnt a easy fix for me.

did it have the right amount of oil in it?

if my engine or gearbox went bigtime i would not get them fixed i would try and find used units with some sort of warrentry
only time i would have the original unit overhauled is if it was a small thing

or just get an auto with a manual shifter in it, way stronger than the manuals, and alot more interchangeable with other parts etc.

That was wax, he found a bigger stronger newer box from a Mistral for 100 bucks or so and slapped that in. Easy fix if you have the box available...
