just installed my superwinch on new truck that I have had sitting round for few years. I wound out the cable to make sure its ok but as I wound it back in the winch kept stopping then would start again it didn't do this last time I used it.
I tracked the problem to a row of square things on the main power feed from battery, they would get warm then click and stop then give it a while they click back on. the longer I left it the better.
Do I need them? if so what are they called and where do I get them.
superwinch problems
Re: superwinch problems
Throw up a photo, but they sound like relays....Might be corroded inside from sitting too long....

Re: superwinch problems
no not relays these things only have two conection points there is about 6 of them in a row on strips of alloy power in one side and out the other
Re: superwinch problems
Sound like a resistor or simliar, I cant see why you would want them, perhaps its a 12v winch and came off a 24v truck, weird. only thing that should be between batt and winch is the solinoid Pic would help
Toy - Zuk chassis tub, hilux 4.88 axles and transfer, Nissan CA18DE motor and auto trans, sc12 supercharger, 32 10'5 simex, twin motor 8274 custom freespool. Well the parts are all there in various corners of the shed
Re: superwinch problems
They sound like thermal operated self resetting breakers. Can be 50 amps a piece. Symptoms would indicate 1 or 2 may be crook or the winch is using more than the prescribed amount of amps.
