33" Simex Jungle Trekkers on rims and BFG Mud Spare

Post by SupraLux »

Hi all... its been a while since I've been on (I figure it has anyway, since I just answered a couple of PM's wishing me Merry Xmas! :) )

Lifes been pretty crap lately, so I've been away from the site (and just about most things I enjoy) - but I thought I would offer these here first before putting them on TM since the success fees for something of this value is ridiculous - besides, if anyone will be able to use them, its bound to be someone here. I'm open to sensible offers at this stage - feel free to ask any questions. I'm down in Central Otago with them at the moment, and will be bringing them back up to Christchurch with me when I come back up (unless someone down this end of the country wants them - they're in Naseby but I could possibly take the long route home and deliver them to Dunedin for some fuel money).

They're my Dads 33" Simex Jungle Trekkers, fitted to 15" Cruiser offset rims (They should fit just about everything with a standard 6-stud pattern). They were originally fitted to a Hilux, and more lately were run on my Dad's Pajero for accessing his gold claim.

Image

Rest of the pics here

They have been well-used and have sustained some sidewall damage on one, but its been there for a long time and hasn't got any worse - but I would have to say I'm selling them for offroad use only since I can't guarantee their roadworthiness.

Also included is one (no rim) very good tread BFG Mud Terrain 265/75 R16 which, with its near-full tread, appears to have about the same OD and could probably be used as a spare. I would caution with this tyre that I have no history on it - I found it in one of Dads sheds. It looks in good nick other than a couple of small shallow-looking cuts on the sidewall but without a rim I can't be sure of its condition. Given that I'm recommending the Simexes be used off-road only then it shouldn't be an issue if its used as a spare - it may need a tube, but it actually looks ok at first glance. I will also consider selling this tyre separately if I don't get any offers in the next few days for the entire set.

They're being sold because my Dad (who owns the tyres) is now very ill in hospital with a terminal brain tumour and is no longer able to use them - and so I am trying to sell a few things to free up some cash and clear some clutter to help my Mum while I'm down South with them both.

Anyone who knows me or who is watching my Trade Me auctions (none there at the moment, but I will keep listing things when I get back to Chch) lately will know that this is on the back of the sudden collapse and death of my little (and only) Sister about 18 months ago - and the death from a misdiagnosed cancer of her husband a few years previous to that.

My Wife and I are now looking after their two wee Girls (7 and 9) along with our own Daughter in our little 2 1/2 br house which is rapidly becoming far too small... but what do you do in Christchurch?...

The family has been through the wringer lately (actually, we are still *in* the wringer - my Wife was just made redundant at Xmas and now this with my Dad) - but we're moving on as best we can. It would make one hell of a Hollywood blockbuster, but unfortunately one based on true events where the names haven't been changed, and the innocent are totally unprotected.

The person who coined the phrase "It can't get any worse" really was suffering from a complete lack of imagination.

Anyway, if you're after some tyres, or a gold dredge, or a gold mining claim, or a low-km's Mitsi Challenger 2.8TD, or a whole bunch of other things then keep an eye on TM, or here if I think its ORE-worthy...

Cheers

Steve

Thanks for the kind thoughts guys - and Callum I've PM'd you.

I'd like to keep all 5 tyres together in case someone wants a full set - the worst part of buying tyres for me was always justifying buying a big spare as well... at least until I found myself in deep ruts with a sharp manuka 'spear' through the sidewall of the front left 35, and only an old genuine Hilux 29" spare on the back... So being able to offer a complete set including the spare has a nicer feel for me.

If I don't have any interest in the complete set within a few days I'll separate the BFG.

Thanks for the complete-stranger-kindness Phil - That's the kind of stuff ORE was built on, and I appreciate the offer.

Oh and Tom, I'll take you up on that beer - its been way too long since the last one : )

Hi Steve,
life's dealing some of it's worst cards to you and your family, I really admire you (and others who do the same) of picking up the tab of the 2 children from your sister, bringing up children is the hardest thing out....big thumbs ups to you and your wife, those 2 children really need the stability you'll give them.
If you're going to catch up with Tom sometime for a beer i'd love to go to and catch up as well.

Feeling for you Steve, and Family. Thanks for being a TRUE man and sharing your tough times on here with us all. Respect re taking on your what you are.
I have no need for any of the stuff you are selling, though a claim does sound interesting  !
Happy to meet up, if you are chewing the fat over some cold ones with Tom & Tim. I have a few "tools" that are useful when times get tough. Happy to share these bro.

All three girls (and the Wife) enjoy a bit of 4WDing... so perhaps we could all make an afternoon of it and enjoy the beers the way we used to... with some mud, dust and waist-deep water. Its been too long for me.

I mentioned it in the other thread, but my Dad passed away on Sunday evening after his long battle with cancer - and we are having his funeral on Thursday. I'll be back properly (work is starting to wonder if I even exist) after easter... so once the dust settles and I can pull myself together a good drive up a river somewhere is probably going to be just what I need.

Sorry to hear of your loss Steve. We lost Maria's dad to cancer a couple of years ago. Pretty tough times  My thoughts are with you brother.

On a lighter note............ Im keen as for a catch up and a mission. I have a passenger seat with your name on it if you need. Save you scratching your fancy pants Disco   I don't have cup holders either so wheeling is best done with a passenger

Sorry guys, I missed those replies... thanks :)

Just a *bump* for the tyres... I had a few enquiries on them but they are still available. They're now here in Christchurch if anyone wants to see them (or better still buy them :) )

Steve

PS: The BFG Mud spare is not available with these any more as I've found the set of BFG muds it belongs to... I'll make those available shortly as well

I also have a 12000lb winch for sale... its been sitting in the corner of the shed for about 6 years, and has been successively been lined up for fitment to about 3 different trucks... but its never quite made it into any of them.

Brand new but not shiney (there are some great memories in the dust tho).
10mm wire rope
wired hand controller
roller fairlead
hook (somewhere, I hope... I'll have to find it)
Don't have a photo handy, but I'll add one later... but it looks like a standard chinese 12000lb winch (similar to this one only black)

I'm not sure where the mounting hardware is for it (ie: 4 bolts) but it shouldn't be too hard to use standard bolts on it.

Make me a sensible offer. I'm open to a combo deal with the tyres too...

I've had a few people asking for a price, so I want $1000 for all 4 tyres, complete with rims ready to go. I can deliver or meet you with them anywhere from Rangiora to Palmerston to Ranfurly / Naseby if that helps.

If they don't sell to someone here I'm going to have to list them on Trade Me - which I really don't want to have to do...

Cheers

Nobody keen? I need them out of the garage, they take up too much room that I want for 'project space'...

Damn, this means giving Tard Me more money...
