Which one of these plugs has the 4wd dash light in it?

Post by Gren »

My jack has been converted from auto to manual and the 4wd light on the dash hasn't been connected.
Found these three plugs just down from the brake booster that I assume were to tickle the auto.
Anyone know which of these I need to connect to the plug on the box to make the light work?

4x4 light works of the wiring loom that goes down to the transfer box its built into the trucks loom the plugs you showed are the ones for the auto box I found that there was three plugs on the autos transfer box and only two on the manuals transfer box maybe try and see if you can change the plugs around at the transfer box.

Hmmm more hunting required......
Got another question for ya if you don't mind....

I has been disconnected since buying the truck. Is this as the previous owner stated only required when running the auto trans?
What is the purpose of it and will it help in my way now the truck has been converted to manual?

Cheers guys

That's part of the EGR system. Sounds like he's been feeding ya porkies. It is still there but just disabled. Can't remember the colours of the wire for the 4wd light, but it is only 2 wire plug to the loom on the transfer box. If there is 2 switches on the transfer they go in parallel.

Cheers,
I keep looking for the loose nut behind the wheel, but I can't find it!!

Ahh yep, just having a touchy feely around the gbox/ transfer areas and have got a two wire coming from close to the transfer selector and then there appears to be another two wire plug on top of the gbox at the base of the bell housing. Any clue as to what that may be?
The speedo drive is all connected and working by the way.

The one on top may be the reverse switch. The 4wd switch is nearer the selector.

Reverse lights not working seems to be a Safari thing.. Personally I find the hazard lights work well for backing at night just blink in time

I think its just because the reverse senders just so tricky to get to that if/when it fails no-one can be bothered with the job...

For auto converted nissans, to get reverse lights working put switch (wire to reverse sender) between the green and black wires on the bigger of the two grey plugs (lower plug in pic).

Got the 4wd light sorted, someone had cut the wires down under the drivers seat and tucked the left overs back into the conduit. There a two wires left over which when joined click a relay somewhere I. The engines bay but still no reversing lights.... I have tested the bulbs and all the fuses in the kick panel just in case.
Meh happy got one thing sorted in the dark on the lawn tonight at least.
