anyone got any ideas for getting any more power out of my 2.5L diesel in my new 87 L300? i used to have a rwd 2001 4D56T and it was so much gruntier! but i want to avoid putting a turbo engine in it.
ideas anyone?

Basically the only way to get more power out of a n/a diesel is to turbo it Im afraid.
Luckily for you, most stuff will bolt on.

but will my n/a engine hold the boost? i havent done any research yet. u reckon a free flow exhaust will be worth a try? my old van had 1 and made abit of a difference, but that was a turbo

Oil burners run massive comp (20 + to 1) turbo or not compared to petrol versions - with huge internals for the size of them - IC and realistic boost will work fine and haul ass!!

4g63 ??? off the top of my head - bet ya an evo ish 2lt version will bolt up to your box if you really want a kick in the pants

me personally i couldn't be arsed dropping an engine out of a van i would sell it and buy one that's already turbo'd, to turbo the existing engine unless you get the parts cheap i mean really cheap i wouldn't waste your money.
put that dosh into the new van. I had a non tubo l200 and i just sold it bought a turbo one way easier and i already had the turbo to bolt onto the non turbo haha work that one out, also the non turbos head is tiny bit diff the injector glow plug ports are 1.5mm smaller but Ive run non tubo head on turbo 4d56 and haven't noticed a diff...... and also the turbo blocks have under piston oil squirters/jets. i personally wouldn't bother but that me, and your entitled to do what you like

yea but these vans are getting quite rear and i got this 1 for a good price not to long ago. and there is heaps of suspension work done underneath. im just going to stick with it for now. it still gets me where i want to go, i just have to get used to being boosted off by the bros in there mean trucks haha
