spring over axle conversion

Post by haynzy »

I have a bj73 cruiser that I want to do a spring over conversion on. I s there a kit that can be purchased? I am just a dodgy builder so will need to get it done by someone and am trying to keep the cost down.

soa huh?... good stuff... :!:

i'm doin same to my 40..

no 'kit' that i know of..

but..

use ya std springs, cut off and reweld new spring perches on diff housings, new locator pins in spring packs, cut and turn on front housing and possibly elongate the driveshafts ( may get away without having too..), hi-steering setup, possibly new spring plates too..

http://www.ih8mud.com/tech/soa/index.html

try reading the link above.. its not too bad to perform yaself and the difference between doin it to a 40 and 70 is damn near the exact same..

hope i've been a little help..? :?

good luck!

another passing to the dark side, where the force is much stronger  ......no really it is, you will need to put diff braces on as well

plenty of pics of doing SOA in mine and nibbys photo album, except his are spaced out for the extra width of 60 series housings.
