$1RES 80 Series bull bar sells

Post by petefj40 »

http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing ... =576977119

Sold for $700.
Simon got a bargin saving him over 1k if he was going to get it custom built for his 80.
Pitty my first build instructions weren't followed.
So it was sold for as much as the market was going to pay on the day.
Can't say I'm happy. But I'm happy Simon is happy..

dude, i dont know the ins and outs of the requests for the build, but we (im not the only one) really arent impressed with the little barbed, snide comments about the build in this or the other thread.
id be suggesting if youve an issue with tom and the build, take it up with him in private, the little shots aimed at him arent doing you any favours.

not a cool look, just sayn

(and to add a disclaimer, ive never spoken to nor met tom, and have no vested interest in my above comments)

I've spent the bucks. I think that gives me the right to say how I'm feeling right now.
I've already spoken to Tom. I got the GST taken off the mark2 bar. That cost me $2200.
I also know the instructions I gave to him too on the first bar.
Stay the fark out please.

Personally. Tom is a top bloke. I have a lot of time for him. I'll see him again and maybe work with him again. I haven't been on a trip with him yet or got on the piss with him, but I'd look forward too it.
But in business? One thing I'll do next time. Is watch the build closely or closer than I did with the first bar build. It's not like he lives down the road from me. You're a GC Tom.
XJ.
I really don't give a fark what others on here that haven't met me think about me. People that have met me know, I call a spade a spade. I tell it how I see it. And if I'm wrong? I'll stand corrected.. We all live and learn. I'm good for that. I'm here to learn like all the rest of us..

This thread is here to make people know. If you have the money to spend on a build, small or big? Follow it through step by step. If you're not happy? Make it known.

I don't think he meant the "buddy" to be taken literally. It's like when someone tells you that you are a dickhead. They don't actually mean your head is a penis....

It's a shame it wasn't what was expected. I've never heard bad feedback on any of Tom's work.

1. Well don't follow it then!
2. Coz it was for sale. (ffs)
3. I paid for it coz I thought the 2nd effort I'd get at a better price.

Pretty simple really.

I've seen this sort of attitude from you time and time again and refrained from comment.

It's pretty bloody simple to me but apparently this is a point you struggle to grasp - this is a public forum that exists for the discussion of all things 4x4 by any interested person. It is not a place to broadcast opinions unchallenged, so stop getting your panties in a knot whenever someone puts forward something that differs from your own point of view, or in this case calls you out on a completely pointless thread.

If you really have resolved your issues with Tom in private (they way it should be), stop acting like a cock in public on the internet.

I have. And this is a public forum. I'm well aware of that thank you.

As I said before, "This thread is here to make people know. If you have the money to spend on a build, small or big? Follow it through step by step. If you're not happy? Make it known."

Madaz.

A. If you're not following this thread? Why are you still posting to it?
B. Other things that have sold are still in this "column". Why shouldn't mine be in here?

If this is a thread on how to make it clear what you expect when something is being custom made for you then maybe you should write it out as such?
I only say this because you've said you call a spade a spade but you haven't put up the full story, just a bit of a rant and then snapped at people who have pretty much pointed that out?

I also work in manufacturing and know how difficult it can be deal with customers who assume you can read minds and berate you when they discover you can't.
One thing they never do though is say how awesome something is and how happy they are one minute then slam it the next....

Maybe he has screwed you over (again, you've only left everyone guess as to what has happened though), but something like this can be very damaging to a small business so I hope it's justified.

Its all too common nowadays for people to publicly flame something/one without discussion with the person their beef is with. I recently had a trailer made to my spec's, but I hadn't given detail on the tail door. turns out I don't like it, that's my problem as I didn't give a proper plan. They offered to fix it for free, I said I'd pay, we met half way. But i'd never blame them for that..
Hope it was worth it Pete

Thing is, we all know Petefj40. After all the bullshit he has posted and the crap he has caused on here over the years, no one takes him seriously anymore.

I can't believe you all have forgotten how many times he has over stepped the mark with people on the forum, airing his dirty washing in the most cowardly fashion on the most inappropriate medium. He is for ever throwing his toys and then sulking off with his tail between his legs after upsetting everyone.

Maybe this time round he needs his ego massaging again after his narrow escape after writing off his Holden Clubsport............

The hook has been baited, the line cast, now we wait

From one of many online dictionaries:

mate [meyt] Show IPA noun, verb, mat·ed, mat·ing.
noun
1. a partner in marriage; spouse.
2. one member of a pair of mated animals

So, while I appreciate the sentiment... I just dont swing that way Pete, nothing against them that do, just not my thing. Sorry, but good luck with it.

......... ahhhh hang on....... is that some of what like DaveM was meaning when talking about dicks with heads........... shucks.... now I understand.

Cant speak for anyone else, but I see what i have perceived (and yes, perceptions are just that and are subject to being grossly incorrect, however, given the evidence previously linked to earlier awesome and praiseful comments about the work done, something seems a little smelly ) as a snide, passive aggressive attack on someone in a manner that seems to me to be completely unrequired (as whatever issue there had been was apparently resolved). As such, I felt bound to say something. The whole "oh but no dont cause a drama" works really well for the divisive types who use that exact mentality as a means of hiding. Ie: "I'll have a little dig here and no-one will have the balls to say anything as they're all to scared to be seen as stirring the pot"

Balls to that inspector.

I'm happy for the moderators to censure anything Ive said here, but I can't see anywhere that Ive launched any personal attack. Have a little look through and see where the first profanity was fired from.

While I'm at it, if this really was about telling folk to be more careful when commisioning a project, it would have been headed "Beware a cautionary tale blah blah whinge" and posted under a section more relevant to that particular tale of woe, and then gone into the process undertaken and where that process fell short of achieving a desirable result, hence making it an informative narrative which may be of benefit to others. But no.......

Annnyway... yay for friday and roll on the weekend

Farking off again - Yeeehaaaawwwwwwwwww

that sort of stuff.

i agree on most of the things you have posted that has been relevant, i dont think this is the place to air everyones dirty laundry, and you certainly are a muppet if you get something custom made, change your mind about it then expect to get something cheaper.

if your not happy about something say it straight away not after the fact of the matter, and certainly dont go bad mouthing people that do a bloody great job specially when hes tacking money out of his pocket to right was was wrong.

personally, i think of Tom even better now, that even after all this hes still willing to make a bullbar at any discount.

but as i said, just stop with the personal unnecessary attacks people. not anyone in particular, everyone.

To be honest I'm not really sure what story there is to tell :? If anyone has to know then my number is just down here vvvvvvvvv
