1kz te oil pressure

Post by prado_boon »

The oil pressure in my 93 Prado 1kz te gets high anything over 1,500rpm. At ide it will sit perfectly on the line but when revving it will shoot up to almost on high and sit there...but comes down when idle again.

Oil levels are fine, the thing is I'm not sure if this is a new problem or it's always been like this.

Is this an issue ?
Could it be the oil pressure regulator or bad oil filter ?

Right well not much help came from this.

The orange oil light refers to oil level, sorted. Flushed the oil and replaced the filter.

The oil pressure seems high but it's not stuck on H or that would indicate that there was a blockage, so I guees it's okay.

Hi

You need to separate those 2.
The oil light is a low oil level light that comes from a sensor on the side of the sump. If I am coming down a STEEP hill with my 1KZ it will occasionally come on.
The oil pressure gauge is different. That should be moving around as the oil pump is driven by the engine. More RPM more oil pressure. so at idle it should sit fairly low. at 2000 rpm it should have moved up. If the oil is cold it will have a higher reading. When hot It will not read as high.
the Factory gauge is only a indication you have some pressure.

If you want a accurate reading you will need to fit a after market gauge and check the pressure that way. The service manual will have at what RPM the pressure should be.....
