Vitara Front Bar

Post by vitz »

Hey all

I am keen to make up a front bar for my 94 LWB Vitara.
Does anyone out there have plans or measurements for a front bar they have made or some good pics?

I will probably go for a tube style to keep costs down but keen to see what your all using.

Thanks in advance

Just be careful how ya make it, as you may fail a wof it it looks like it would push a pedestrian underneath the vehicle.

An inspector may refuse to issue a warrant of fitness if, in their opinion, a bullbar:

slopes forward (unless the shape is necessary to fit closely to the vehicle's structure)
has sharp corners or edges
is more than 100 mm wider than the vehicle on either side
was attached as an after-market add-on to the vehicle's chassis or body by welding
has an unnecessarily wide gap between the bullbar and the shape of the vehicle
is excessively strong and rigid given the purpose it was fitted for.

http://vehicleinspection.nzta.govt.nz/v ... rojections

dont let it scare you though, most wof inspectors are pretty good.

looks good mate, that was fast too,
before you get it coated,
dont forget

light brackets
tow hook mounts
aerial mount
rod holder

all the bits that will cause a repaint or powdercoat job

The final pic.

So the plan was to borrow the use of a pipe bender and welder and do this my self.
The problem was when ever I could get there to do it, the equipment was in use and when ever it was free, I couldnt get there.
So the guys ended up pretty much doing it all.

Pretty stoked with how it came out and it paid for its self yesterday at woodhill when I hit the side of a bog HARD and was sure I would have bent the new bar.

Not a mark on it! Saved me a light, gaurd, and maybe a bonnet.

It ended up costing me about half what the next cheapest quote was, If anyone wants the details for the guys that made it, PM me and I will reply with a cell phone number.

Hey man
I had this done at Mr Muffler in Auckland. They are on the corner of church st and selwyn st in onehunga.
The price will no doubt change as everyone wants little changes and personalised touches but this one cost me $400.
Nice guys to deal with,
Call Ram on 0211601013. If your out of Auckland pm loopee on here. I have seen his winch bars in the flesh and I think they are second to none. I doubt the boys at mr muffler could make one and send it without your truck being there.
The thing I liked most about the mr muffler guys is you can have alot of input, let them know what you want, he even sent me pics as he was going to make sure it was exactly how I wanted it.
