Are my ball joints wrong?

Post by vitz »

Hey guys

I went to fit some new front springs in the weekend. I removed nut from sway bar, went to remove three bolts holding ball joint to front arm but the ball joint was under the arm not above it.

I have borrowed crazyfi's pic.

In this pic the ball joint is bolted to the top of the arm. Mine are bolted to the bottom of the arm.

Which is right? Does it matter? I imagine having them bolted to the top like in pic would give another 10mm of droop and would sure make changing springs easier.

Thanks in advance

The ball joints are definitely bolted underneath the lower control arm on a 1.6 Vitara/Scud. You'll find it's not too hard to disassemble and reassemble the front suspension with them like that anyway.

Might be hard to tell from the pic. Mine are bolted underneath the same as factory, not on top.
