apart from looking a little odd, doesnt help much. your axle/diff is half way along the pivot point so extending your shackles 2" means a 1" rise at the housing (half way along where your axle is) if you dont get that I will be not happy as it is late and I cant even spell my own name this time of night. make them too long and they increase wear on the bushes etc. 50mm increase would be the max i'd increase them.
Snake racing in Australia make good quality ones... If you note that no reputable company makes something.... its probably a dumb idea. so if you don't see 8" long shackles.....

Cheap lift for small gain. Although many good kits come with greasable pins for their shackles, this is a good idea
