GME GX300 in D21 Terrano.................

Post by BogBoy »

Hey all

I have a GME GX300 in my D21 terrano.

Its brand new along with the cable/base/mount/whip

It wont pick up a signal as I start moving.

The guy who sold it to me also installed it and its got him stumped.

Any ideas?

Its in a terrano, that may be the cause....

Does the installer have a clue what he was doing? SO many different reasons for it not to work.
Poor grounding, grounding a ground independent aerial. short on coax, stuffed tx out of box (does happen), squelch too high, dead speaker?

So works fine when stationary? did you move too far away from what your listening to? your electrical system is shit (terrano) and your overloading the receiver? did you test the aerial with a swr meter?
Try a noise filter. Get a professional to look at it....
All else fails, leave it in the drive way where it works.
Dont follow me. i'll get stuck and need a tow..

Yeah.. Na, a pro wont scratch his head. We make up a bull sh*t excuse and try something else till we find what it was. Run it from the battery for a test. Check for a short on the aerial. Give me a little more to work with..

Ok so its earthed to the same wire the CD player is hooked up to. :?:

Was thinking about testing for earth at the base of the antenna/whip.

This really has me confused as far as I can see it should be a simple set up :(

Got it sorted

Turned out the cable that was supplied had a break inside it.

The unit seems to favor the higher channels too
