Yeah the clicking sound is the cam gears disengaging (ie unlocking) if you accellerate the lokka will engage which can be a bit of fun - just take turns without changing momentum otherwise be prepared for the lokka to kick in.

I've got lockrights in my zuk. I'm quite used to them, and passengers don't notice them.
I never hear mine "click" except when doing a 90 degree turn into my driveway going really slowly.
It occasionally lets out a big bang when easing on the power.
And it will clunk quite a bit when getting on or off the gas, due to the extra free-play they introduce in the diff.
Trick to driving with them is to qucikly jab/slip the clutch a bit when going from accelerating to decelerating, or decelerating to accelerating to minimise the clunk, and to keep the throttle fairly constant when going round steady turns (eg roundabouts) to prevent any jerking.
Sounds like a hassle, but its really second nature once you're used to it, and it doesn't take long to get used to.

hey m8, great investment u have just made!!!
prob the best thing i have brought for my truck yet.
i got mine put in an my clutch an gear box done all at once an yeah you do take a while yto get used to. yes they do make noise but normaly only at low speed. when you go faster the gears skip accross eachother an its quiet. as far as getting used to it i just found that i changed my driving without even thinking just adapted to it.
Question. . . . . Why did you buy side gears (extra)????
did you not know that lokka an lockrite diffs come with life time an unlimited hp warrentee??

had a locker in the front of my cruiser and steering in the slippery stuff around tight tracks/corners is a bitch, and popped 2 CV's on one trip

so you wouldnt recommend 1 in the front of a 350chev powered fj40?
i was thinking of welding up the rear and putting a lokka in the front.
i may just leave the front open and put the lokka in the rear. it has no power steering and is not road legal.
are lokkas hard to fit?

do just that. locker in the front with horsepower will just blow cv's to bits
and very easy to fit

yeah my brother and i put one in the front of his 2.8 hilux along with 4.88 gears. i wouldn't recommend an automatic locker in the front unless you want to persist in changing cv's. on a fully rebuilt front end the the cv's lasted all but 2hrs although they were cheap shit cv's. it has since done 3 more cv's, a set of axles and done in the front housing along with kingpin bearings and axle seals. we've chucked an open in the front untill he can sort out $$ for longfeilds. genuine cv's will last a bit longer but they're about $250 each. this is just my personal experience, the truck hasn't been thrashed and this is what has happened. we're still going to continue with the lokka but once we've got some longs. also steering with the lokka is siffer as the truck wants to drive straight all the time and chaging gears when you've got 2x lokkas it makes the truck twitch on the road, much like torque steering, only when the front hubs are in though.
cheers marc
