Gidday from the UK

Post by Fordy »

Thought I'd register and say hi. I'm in the process of applying for residence and hope me and family will be in Chch area by September :D

This is my toy, a 92 Samurai with 2.5" lift springs, 31" AT's (soon to be 30" MT's) custom bumpers, sills. Haven't had it long, but been laning and to pay days in it. Probably won't take it with me though, I'll see how much the shipping is.

I see there's a pay site nr Sheffield, and your safari's look awesome. Hope to get a Surf or similar when I get there to explore. Next toy will be 2 wheels, and once we're more established will get a dedicated offroad vehicle, maybe a Niva as Sammy's seem much more expensive on Trademe.

I take it there's small engineering works where you can get extended springs/shocks/shackles etc, google didn't reveal much :?

If you are emmigrating see how much room is left in the container, or make sure there is room and put your toy in. As a first time immigrant you can bring all of your stuff (car included) duty and tax free. It will need any mod's certified before, and may need some things changing to meet NZ reg's before it can be used on the road here but if nothing major needs doing your vehicle can be on the road for about $1,000. This is what i did when i bought my rangie in, as my wife was emmigrating to NZ, everything was hers, so no taxes - its a wonderful thing.

Just to prove Ad's point, a mate of mine in the Buller 4x4 club just imported a SWB Safari for his wife, $3000 on the road. No kidding!!!!
