weighed the old girl the other day 2010kgs with no spare electric winch 40 lts fuel was pretty happy with that. 1270 front and 830 rear with me in it need to try get some more weight over the rear axel, bring on the pto winch.

Had a shake down on the weekend with toysuzi and muddy as well as a few other club members in dredgeville about 45 mins from murch exelent camping spot with hot showers thanks to pat and des and a flush toilet, luxeries when camping.

been a while since the last update. after the last club trip alt needed a rebuild mabey something to do with the bogs . have had some issues with the auto not playing ball slow to get into gear when cold and it over heated yesterday unsure as to y just yet but am looking at swaping to another auto i have lying around.

have made up some covers for the door cards from vinal color coded of course

i am happy with how they turned out and nice and easy to wash down once covered in mud.

we had a nelson vs marlborough fun day compition yesterday and after a work do not all the brain cells were working at 8am

new motor will certenly be getting coil packs as arcing from the distributer is the reason i needed winched out

Im ammazed how much power the auto has sucked out of the motor i love the way it is controlled up creeks and banks but feel it has pulled up to 50hp from the motor, so i dusted this off has been sitting up the top shelf for about 8 months

pto winch is on hold the the moment will freshen up my spare motor and put this on top 550cc injectors link computer with map sensor aiming for the 400hp atw mark

so after taking out numerous times and testing the truck very happy with the suspension and how it works flexs up well off road and its super stable thanks to the 80 series wide axel, not so happy with the manuverability in tight stuff adjusted the steering lock which made it better but thinking shorter wheelbase is the best option prob looking at 100- 106 inches at the moment its at 117 inches. cant do that with the doubble cab so.............

So a bit of an update as its been a while progress is slow as have been putting hours into my prado, but Marlborough winch challenge is looming and im keen to compete so i have put the cab chop on hold and started on the pto winch.

firstly mounting the Toyota PTO

So now for drive shaft and cable operated pto lever freespool will be by air ram, the suzuki transfer is good as in High position it is 1.5:1 then in low it goes to 2.6:1 so will see how it goes.

I think i might keep it as its hard to get from netural to drive in the transfer with nothing engaged if i set this up i should be able to brake the auto. it works in theory.

Setup rope running from winch to front of truck in my last setup i used steel rings and found out they cut out quite bad when used a few times grit in the rope seems to kill it soooooooo......... I have seen this UHMPWE used in this application before with good results, im setting up removable peices 45mm thick through the truck photos show more

A bit of love on the truck this weekend starter has been playing up for about 6 months and i know how fun it is to do so on sat i finally got round to doing it also replaced the rocker cover seals aswel

today i pulled the steering box and pump off to locate intermitiant power steering loss, neither went back on pump was leaking and box had twisted the splines severly so new ones on and a flush and good as gold.

On this weeks to do list is buy and install new cv and axel after i broke axel over a month ago

Also i need to re run the back part of my water lines as the winch has now taken their position, finish freespool and pto lever on the winch and should be good for some testing next weekend.

so tonight i got air free spool setup and pto lever sorted seems to be working ok cant wait to shakedown just waiting on driveshaft and modified flanges from my engineer should be done this week.

Hey mate. Does your rear mounted rad work ok? Any heat issues? Or things you would do differently if you did it again (again).

Hey Aaron Rear mounted radiator is awesome no heat issues and i wouldnt change the way i did it, The trick is to buy a good radiator not a cheap one i got mine from silvesters in chch they are v8 people and sorced me one that would suit what i wanted to do. i know of three trucks in blenheim with rearmounted radiatiors and all seem happy with them one does get hot when pushed hard tho, all in all a great conversion that has me drinking when others are washing
