Would love to have been in there riding shotgun!
I have made a quick time over that road years ago, with little in the way of brakes left and tyres gone way sticky at the Arrowtown end. Would have been nothing like Mad Mike & 750 BPH though!
I loved the vid. Getting to live vicariously, enjoying the thrill, without Orificer Plod, and the car build bill !

I actually found that ummmmm a tad boring, I guess I'm old school and way prefer rally cars hitting shit as fast as they can and going side ways due to to much speed, not drifting just for the hell of it, even on tarmac.

Funny, Missus and I did a South Island camper van trip 4 weeks ago and got stuck waiting for one of these cuts to be filmed when we were on our way to Cadrona. I was waiting for this to come out. Doesn't do that alpine pass justice to be fair.

Just watched that clip and granted it was pretty cool but do those speeds on a South Island alpine pass 1000km above sea level with 200m drops at most of the turns to up the anti to compare apples with apples. Maybe Redbull were missing a passenger ;)

I have never quite got the "bug" when it comes to drifting. While it takes skill and all that kinda jazz, it's still a showman sport and I've always been the type to just go flat out, rather than make it look pretty, would rather see a pikes peak car give that road a go or something like that.

Crown Range is definitely a road I want to drive one day though! We talked about a road trip a couple of years ago when I had my STi and a few mates had GTR's and the likes. I still think it's on the cards at some point but we've all gotten too busy with work and families and that kinda thing.

The crown range is an awesome road! Only driven it in a Corolla rental but next time i'd like to get something with a bit more grip to fly around the corners!

The amount that tv3 sport hyped this up and played plugs for it the weeks before it was on, I was really expecting more footage...

I do like it though.
It's just more fun in a lada !!

Found the footage a bit boring but as someone who used to session this road regularly I can deffinatly appreciate the skill it takes to slide those corners. Would love to see the whole climb from inside the car as sliding some of those hairpins would be epic esp considering how tight some of those corners really are and how much you climb just coming out of the corner

Maybe I'm old fashioned but I never got the idea of drifting.

He did well on that road with what only looks like a couple of practice runs.

SMG with a flat shift by the sound and looks of it. Nice to see this tech in NZ.

Great to see the behind the scenes.
Also not surprising to see one of the Wallis boys flying the Helo.

Agreed on the behind the scenes being better than the actual vid. I wish they took the time to cover the targa cars in this sort of detail, all I see is V8 motorsport and I find the street targa stuff and rally so much more interesting to watch on tv!
