Rev counter on safari
Hi have 92 GQ safari with rev counter flicking trying to fix now but can't seem to pull off the needle how do you get this apart so I can get to the solder joints???
Re: Rev counter on safari
After trying to do it carefully I just pulled it hard then it popped off i then resoled the main ones I could see and now it works fine. Wasn't that hard would recommend others to try.

Re: Rev counter on safari
is the rev counter 12v or 24v in a 24v Safari,
I know the dash is a mix and match.

Re: Rev counter on safari
12 or 24V?
I have issue with my rev counter also. (88 GQ)
After online searches I believed it was 12v feed, however when I pulled out tacho, main feed on board to tacho is from a common 24v in. Ive tried another spare cluster I had but still no rev counter workn, haven't yet tried the resolder all joints yet.
I believe my fault may be with sensor which was my next step.
Havent yet found any clear tech info on tests for this.

Re: Rev counter on safari
I asked the auto techs here and they said it was 12v even tho mine safari is 24v but did not check this but was told I'd a really common fault with Nissans dashes not just patrols or safaris. I would find out how much for good second hand one then swap see what happens.
Re: Rev counter on safari
Just started doing it again so drove straight to tech he took one look and said yes they are all 12v get supply from convertor behind kick panel he said will have do do all the solde joints not just the main ones sour it will come again!!!! He said the speedo is really commone as will and it is only matter of time befor one does it!!! But they have new ones on in stock because of it
Re: Rev counter on safari
which kick panel? as far as I knew I only had one 24-12v converter, its enormous and sits behind my head unit for stereo/radios/cigarette power.
