Ok so my engine has a rattle to it even after doing the lifters. Seems to be lacking power as well.
Some times it will stop its rattle and gain power.....
Worn lifters? Or worn push rods?
I was thinking that it could be a worn point on the push rod head and when it spins/rattles around to another point it might take up the space and stop the rattle, which in turn could make the valves open the right distance and gain power.
What are my options as I have a trip coming up that I want the 4wd sorted for.

Cam lobes? A lot of older Nissans had issues with shite quality cams....
Ugly is a state of mind..... and the state of my truck!
Re: Weird problem?.. D21
check timing gear and chain also , have you checked to see how much oil pressure it has , ?
Re: Weird problem?.. D21
Presuming you got td27? Rocker shafts can wear. Need to remove rocker assembly and check the underside (load side) for wear. (sometimes sliding rockers down shaft is enough to check)
Re: Weird problem?.. D21
Yep checked chain and rocker gear already.
If it is the cam shaft can I get it re ground??

try putting that stuff in that says it will stop ratterling tappets and lifters then youll know if it does but it only lasts a little while

As far as I know (which isn't very), chuck it out and put a new one in (if that is the issue)
