may 18th-19th

Post by Dirtydog »

What are peoples plans / acheivements this weekend?

sorted some small things out on the terrano today, started painting the chassis black.

have to put all the interior back together after i had to pull it apart to get to spotlight wiring to find out why it wasnt working.

also pulled off back wheels and rotors to unveil why my handbrake stopped working yet again, lots of mud in there, and bugger all brake pad left, time to replace.... so far i have found $240 to be the cheapest, or 100 bucks from ozzy, go figures.

Sposed to be working on my Prado...
I have sourced some non worn spindles, knuckles etc. Thanks to a top bloke on this site. You know who you are! Spindle alignment jig to be machined up later today.

Trying to get into the guts of a Hydraulic snap connector that has jammed off a Mustang bobcat. A little spherical circlip thingee dropped out when I removed the connector from the hose... I may have to make up a C - spanner.

Been side-tracked onto my wee 1927 Austin 7 Ulster (sports model). We changed springs last night, steering to sort, fuel tank to put back up front and new close ratio gears in another box, before an off-road / back country track style 3 day rally at Q Bd WE. Changing back to road from being a trials car. The handling was way to dangerous on the open road at speed! Will all get changed back again before the next trials event.

Made up some blanking plates for the egr and have an intercooler ready to modify. Weather is too inconsistent to get in there and actually do the work without a garage. Last weekend I fixed the aircon (had no belt, was a gamble whether it'd fix it or not) and installed a sub.

Put last two rivets in to cert plate as Clint didn't have 90 degree drill to miss the wiring mess on drivers side.

Cut a hole in my rad support panel to see where my intercooler might sit, so I can see where my shock mounts/brace might sit. A lot of theory so far.

Edit above: Tried to win today. Had carby issues, Overfuelling - fuel coming out of venturi tube, used 30 litres of 98 and av gas mix today! and lunched the alternator bearing which then chewed up 2 belts within 1.5 mud drag runs. hydro steering is very heavy with no pump running, made loading on the trailer awkward. Hang over and cramp made concentration difficult. Hope there are photos from today somewhere.

Swapped the auto locker from one safari to another took all day as I had to change the springs haha only to find 1 spring missing so had to leave one worn one in there. In typical safari fashion got it all back together and back on the ground and went to fill the front diff and the filler bung is fully stripped :( 30min later and it was out...finally but now its dark and the wife isn't happy with the time it took so will do that tomorrow.
