2005 on petrol pajeros

Post by haz77 »

Do the later 05 3.8ltr petrol pajeros have the same fuel system issues that the earlier NM model GDI's did, or any issues of there own for that matter?

Also read somewhere they only do about 15l/100ks, surely not unless thats a towing figure?

I think the 3.8's are non GDI. They defiantly have a fly by wire throttle which allows the use stability control.

Fuelly reports about 15L/100km for the V6 Pajero so your on the money there.

We have the 2004 Diesel version, according to my maths we save $1000 in fuel (including RUC) every 10,000km. This doesn't include servicing which is twice as much (every 5000km). I service all my vehicles and it costs about $65 a service (oil and filter).

It's also been chipped so power is close to the 3.5 petrol but I suspect the torque curve is fatter down low so it's good to drive. Big downside with these diesels is the engine noise, they're rattly when cold and not much better when warm. Worth considering.

Thats what I thought, no wonder there so cheap, who could afford to run one at 15/100 min!

Planned to buy diesel but the 3.5s caught my eye as they are cheap, then I read about the GDI problems so that canned that, just wondered about the 3.8s but thats a no go if they slurp like that.
