I am going to build a receiver hitch by modifying a standard style towbar.
Plan is to beef up the chassis mounts and weld in a receiver tube. Recess the tube into the existing bar on top of the tounge and add some 5mm bracing. Thanks to Chrome I have a predrilled piece of tube.
Does anyone have the dimensions for how far back the hole should be from the face of the tube? Any other hints or tips welcomed.
Cheers
Matt

Re: receiver hitch dimensions
Anyone have a good source for a tow ball receiver? Have seen a few advertised for over $100 which is significantly more than I want to pay.

Re: receiver hitch dimensions
Call in at any General Engineering workshop with a box of beer. The length you need is basically scrap to them. They may even weld it up for you on the spot...
Re: receiver hitch dimensions
Thanks for the reply. I am after the tounge section that slots into the receiver all welded and drilled for the ball and locating pin.
