Where/how to rebuild Holden 202

Post by discoalex »

So... If my 202 that came with my land rover doesn't sell on trademe.... I'm thinking it might be a wise idea to hang into it and get it into good shape to put into the series 3 at some stage. Seeing it's already got the mounts and gearbox adapter etc...

I know nothing about anything... But wondering if you guys can suggest a good place in auckland I could take it for some loving. A good rebuild or something along those lines?

These are very simple motors to work on and well within the realm of a home DIY rebuild.

Find a competent machinist to do all the hard yards then disassemble and reassemble yourself to save ton's of cash.

If you are going to the hassle of doing a rebuild it would be worth looking at converting to EFI. See if you can find a wrecked Commodore and pull the head and intake and electronics off it. Makes a massive difference.

x2 Makes them haul ass! If you are interested, I'm looking at selling the efi stuff off my 202. Parted truck out so no need for it. Instant starting too!

Go and speak to Graham at Engine rebuilders opposite the big hole in the ground on Pollen st Ponsonby, he and the team there are very friendly and helpful!

Easiest motor I have ever worked on very straight forward. Its almost like it was designed with us backyard mechanics in mind
