70 series spring over conversion questions and

Post by pradon35s »

Hi

Just wanted to ask a few questions. Iv got a pzj77 cruiser lwb. Im lioking at doing a spring over conversion on it using the factory springs. Purely cos I don't like the ride leaf sprung 70s have with over packed lift springs. And i dont want to do a body lift dont like the look of them.
Hoping to gain enough height to run 37x12.5x15 creepys

Has anyone done this on a road worthy truck?
Is a soa conversion able to be certified?
Have people had issues certifying 70s that high with big tyres?
Il put track or anti wrap bar in rear, do u need to put one in front? Or will the high steer account for this?

Any advice or tips appreciated. Cheers and love pics if anyone got any

Yes you can cert them. The cert fella is going to test it for body roll, as long as it basically has no body roll you'll be fine. Keep both factory swaybars, just put longer links in. A few extra leaves at cert time wouldn't hurt either  But I didn't say that!!
Tramp rod are always a good idea with leaves, but really depends on how stiff the leaf packs are.

Mate did a spring over on his 70. It had 50mm after market springs and a body lift on 35's. Had a lot of body roll but got it cert. Had a few issues (brock) with the passenger steering arm since it was on top not underneath but I think Tom has a good solution for that. He is the one we send into deep water to test the waters! Nig

probably the biggest regret iv ever had about any vehicle iv ever owned,

rode like a pig, drove like a pig , always inverting shackles and the factory springs flattened out reeeealll quick

Did you get yours certified? Did you get wobble sorted? My trucks stock standard on 31s and does same wobble...

Some things loose. Tierod ends or swivel housings aren't shimed correctly. Or you've got a lumpy tyre
