mazda proceed intermentent shutting down

I got a 92 proceed marvie that intermittently shuts down an then can take some tine before it starts engine just dies, so far its got new dizzy cap and rotor leads and coil any ideas will be investigated. its just a sudden stop It doesent cough or loose power gradually??


also does any one know where I can locate feul pump relay to relplace it as a idea

You need to figure out what it is loosing ie spark or fuel
If its sudden its most likely loosing spark. Most probably a faulty ignition module or ECU.

Where on the truck is the ignition module and how do i test it

It's been a while since I looked at a proceed engine bay. The module is usually mounted to the distributor or beside the coil
First thing to do tho is to find out if you have no spark when the fault occurs
Try putting a screw driver up a spark plug lead and resting against rocker cover or some metal. Then try when it won't go

If it is the module an auto electrician will be able to test it but keep in mind it will only test faulty for the same time that it is faulty on the car

have just wired a inspection light from the hot wire going into coil and set light up in my dash so I can see if coil loses power when it happens, im assuming the other wire going into coil is a signal wire and no way of testing it when it happens ??

Put tining light across it last night wen it failed no spark but coil was still getin live poer any ideas

Sounds like it is most prob the ignition module then. The ignition module is what pulses the coil negative. Coil positive is just an ignition supply.
The module maybe inside the distributor if you can't find it. Mazda did put it there a lot in the 90's

done ignition module not the problem still shuts down damn It

mind you did get some forestry fun test driving it the last few days

most likely the ecu, they have a diode or 2 inside that corrode at the solder..
locate the ecu, pop the cover open and have a look, you will soon tell if its super clean or not..

quite common problem..

i have a issue with mine, sometimes the idle hunts, and is usually idling around 1200rpm...
pretty sure my TPS or AFM is about to die completely

ecu looks fine replaced dizy and loom going to it on Friday night seems to be goin fine so far fingers crossed I just bought a parts truck so if ya need bits give me a yell.

your symptoms sounds like a mates symptoms in his and his came down to tps
