Nissan safari Gq body lift.
Hi, I was wandering if anyone knew what was involved with a 4'' body lift on my safari , regarding what needs to be moved/extended etc
cheers
cheers
Re: Nissan safari Gq body lift.
Whats the reason for lifting 4"?
Re: Nissan safari Gq body lift.
yea I agree with dave ^
why ya going 4inchs? just go 2inch and cut the gaurds, keep ya centre of gravity a bit lower mate.

Re: Nissan safari Gq body lift.
Swb or lwb either 4" is toooo much plus the body mounts will not like it

gearbox stick and transfur box stick holes will need enlarging
radiator will need remounting
check fuel hoses
brake lines will need altering from the master cylinder to chassis connections
check for steering rod angles that there is no binding on the universal joints etc also look for adequate length of steering shaft
apart from that its quite an easy job
and anybody saying otherwise are a bunch of woissess

exactly what mudlva said above is the answer to your question and it is straight forward really, plus extend fuel filler pipe/vent, now i am not one to preace, but! if its a daily driver personally i wouldnt do it, the body mounts crack (becomes a problem with wof if cracked also you would need a cert) and you get odd stress noises from the body, also they do look odd with the big gap. but hey it is your truck just trying to give you some of the down sides to 4'' b/l as some people do things without realising the consequences....
Re: Nissan safari Gq body lift.
Also clutch hose from where it's mounted on body down to slave needs to be either extended or the solid pipe tweaked and a new bracket made.

yea cheers,
I have been looking at suspension lifts but a work mate has seen another safari body lifted 4''.
wanting to run 35'' tyres
but might have to settle with 33'' on off set rims

Do a search on here ffs, 33's fit fine on standard, what tyres and rims?? Are you after a wagon that works or a tosspot wagon?

about 3 months ago my mates had a lifted v8 hilux, lifted hilux ,lifted 2jz surf and my standard height safari running 32''. down pureora 4x4 track benny dale . although we were all surprised how far my safari went it was bellied the whole way but got there hence the safari dozer , herd body lifting was the cheap lifting option. Which with my research definitely

Re: Nissan safari Gq body lift.
keep in mind you are not allowed to cut and weld your steering colums anymore under new cert ruling , and you will require to extend this for a 4" body lift , some companies ex auzy do spacers / longer u/j's ,
I would just reccomend 2" body lift and get the rest via guard mods or suspension lift
I saying that i have done 2x 4" body lifts before ,

Re: Nissan safari Gq body lift.
4" suspension lift is doable...still lots of adjusting to be done.
If you're talking 4" body lift??...bad bad idea! 40mm is an acceptable raise.
The purpose of a suspension lift is to raise the chassis from the diffs etc.
That helps but doesn't give you more ground clearance under your diffs. Doing a body lift only will raise the body from the chassis and despite what you "have heard" that ain't gonna help.
If you lift the body that much then start doing research into a mysterious 'clunk' from underneath...especially during wet weather.

Re: Nissan safari Gq body lift.
youl only need a 2inch body lift to fit 35s mate
and a very minor inner guard mod (grind or tap with ya hammer)
but at the end of the day its your truck and you can do as you please mate
have fun

Re: Nissan safari Gq body lift.
For a 3'' suspension lift , do you still need pan hard rods and caster correction bushes??
Re: Nissan safari Gq body lift.
If your looking to do a cheap lift, to fit 35's then just do a small bodylift.
As stated before, bodylift will do nothing but raise the center of gravity and allow for larger tyres
but if you keep getting bellied in the middle then go for a suspension lift fefinitly, but do it properly, cause it can end up costing you alot doing it the cheap way.
I suggest getting a proper lift kit, with springs shocks bushes etc, as you will be way better off down the track.

yes its better to have the axles centred under your truck.
Never drove mine without caster correction so can't tell you how bad it would be without it

Re: Nissan safari Gq body lift.
I run an 80mm lift, with castor bushes, standard panhards and it's fine. Have run 75mm lift without castor bushes, and still drive ok, but every vehicle is different.
Re: Nissan safari Gq body lift.
like everthing it costs money to do it right, if its not done right it WILL drive like a pig and you will hate every minute of driving it on the road. 3'' lift or 4'' body lift will require a cert or you will need a friendly/blind/bribed wof guy and they are thin on the ground these days.
i am guessing you need to do it cheap as?? so just 2'' lift springs (EFS $650 OR Dobi/cobra around $550 i believe, personally i dont like dobi/cobra) and trim guards back, put longer shocks in later or get a second hand set.. i am not saying its ideal but hey it lifts your truck.
will also depend on the actual tyre diam as they vary 35'' simex are 36''
