HZJ79 swivel/knuckle parts.

Post by newkiwi »

Thought I'd post my findings as it's taken me a while to get here!

Looking for a set of parts for a knuckle rebuild for a 2003 HZJ79 LC. Ive looked at buying local, importing fro the USA, and 'mail order' within NZ.

These are the results...

Import from CruiserDan, OEM parts including wheel and trunion bearings, seals and snap rings - no shims. US$ 425. You need a US address as they can't ship overseas. (http://www.Shipitto.com or similar)
TrailGear will ship to NZ, but don't stock parts for HZJ79's

Local Toyota dealer - don't ask!! in excess of $2000 and that is not a misprint :o

Don Kyatt, Terrain Tamer swivel kit and wheel bearing kits, $267 +gst + delivery. Will need birf snap rings and may need shims.

Partmaster, $290 for just the Terrain Tamer swivel kit - didn't ask about wheel bearings.

Saeco - not overly impressed with the local branch so much so I've forgotten how much their kits were, and I'm still waiting to find out what the kit contains.

I also looked at Trademe and BTS - Taranaki, but they are not a lot chaper than Don Kyatt, and I'm unsure of the quality of the contents. Acording to their Trademe ad, the kit will fit 1990 - 2008 HDJ80, HZJ80, FJ80
FZJ80, FZJ105, FZJ78, FZH79, HZJ78, HZJ79 and HZJ105 Land Cruisers, excluding IFS models.

So it looks like Don Kyatt is the most likly candidate.

Before I place the order, has anyone any thoughts or advice??? :?:

Cheers,
2003 325,000kms, HJZ79
