Nissan Mistral Need help

Hi all
I am new to this - thus didn't no how to start a post - so will tag into here if ok .

Ive got a Nissan mistral - just purchased - 1994 136000ks

I been reading about some faults - re rust etc ..

Anyone able to advise where rust issues are - and or a link to a web address to view picture on this issue.

I also have an auto problem - goes fine then on occasions will drop gear down from top ????

Real bad for rusting front of sills. the sunroof drain goes down into them, and if they get blocked by a bit of mud etc they stay constantly wet. No an issue for non-sunroof ones

Don't open the windows, the regulators are a cable type and fall to bits, the bumper tail lights melt from the heat of the bulbs, and your in for a real treat when you go to change the oil filter. On the plus side they are cheap to buy and seem to go pretty well.

The oil filter is a piece of cake. nylon strap, wrap it around twice from the side (between the chassi rail and the inner gaurd) pull on the strap with your right to undo, your left to do up.

the drivers door reg is the one with the most use and the one most likley to fail. It is a relativley easy DIY fix.

Grab a cable reg from any other nissan drill out the nylon pulley on the top of the slide and use a M8 bolt and nut to fit the replacement...but don't assemble yet...unless your cable is still okay.

If your cable is damaged

Grab exactly 2 meters of 3mm steel cable from bunnings (in the fittings and fixtures isle..nuts bolts etc) and 3 swashes or a good chunk of brass or lead. take a piece of said brass or lead, drill a 3 mm hole in it and slide the cable through so it is in the middle of the cable...squash it down onto the cable in a vice and shape it with a file to match the original.

Slide the nylon tubes/caps and springs(you'll know them when you see them) over the new cable and make two more swashes for the ends of the cable. repeat process for swashes shaping to fit.

reassemble with the nylon pulley being the last thing to go back on.
