Ok so had a search and I see this has been covered alot in the past
I have a small problem that I am running a 2wd center link that has no mounting bracket on it all.
I also cant see some were to mount it on the chassis.
I was talking to toms offroad customs and he said it might have one factory but might not. I dont want to have to get one welded on as that would mean cert........

Any that will fit something like this would be easy to make, I think you can get the Ubolts from Blacks, If you give me some measurements I can make one at work.
shouldnt cost alot to get one made up, 2 u bolts and some small bits of plate metal, couple of holes drilled. would take a good engineer maybe 5 minutes to make.
as for the chassis mount, you may be able to get something made to bolt onto where the idler arm is bolted to chassis, but on the inside of chassis.

ive seen bolt on ones before but cant remember where, probably a U.S site.
Wicked. Can that spot still be used when I change it to a 2nd steering box type?
Had a bit of a search, moog part#DS1061 /ACDELCO part#45B1081 looks like And the factory 4x4 steering system (lhd in pic) shown with steering damper. Damper pin bolts to chassis near bolts that hold idler arm (mounts to inner of chassis). Pin can be ordered through Nissan, or you might find a secondhand one somewhere. Its shown clearly in dirtydogs pic above in LHD format, so yea, would fit with steering box idler
Seeing as it hasn't been mentioned, the return to center spring loaded steering dampers are a waste of time. You will be better off to just buy a normal damper.

Best bet would be to chat to who does you warrants though as theyre the one that makes the decision in the end.
Also im interested in something, can you use standard shocks (as in the ones that dont extend by them selves) for a steering dampener?

Hmmm Im not sure about the standard shock use? I brought a "damper" to be on the safe side.
The new damper pin I have coming from japan uses the factory holes but only with a idler.... Fingers crossed it wont need a mod when fitting the 2nd steering box.

What is the point of a spring? All it does is push the steering back to the straight ahead position which would be a nuisance offroad, as if you need more resistance when you're trying to turn the steering wheel

Ever used one? I have, liked it a lot, will be fitting another.
I dont really see the point of a steering damper in terms of prolonging steering component life. I get that it reduces the vibration/shock felt at the wheel, but as I see it, by the time any shock force has reached the damper, it has to have travelled through the tie-rod and one end of the center link first.
But it feels nice.
